We trace our history back to the start of free secondary education in Ireland, when education started to be recognised as a fundamental human right. Our educational publishing and printing provided the materials to support schools and teachers in their new mission.

Folens is an outward-looking international company. While our home is Ireland, since the 1980s we have developed relationships globally. We try to bring the best international education ideas and products to the Irish market, and grow our best ideas into world-leading specialist education companies. We believe that education in Ireland can be a showcase for the world.
We pursue our core mission through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities too. Many people are not able to access education through mainstream channels. By supporting several charitable organisations through our Folens Giving programme, we can reach students with various disabilities, disadvantages and specialised situations and provide them with the teaching and learning that everyone deserves.
